Local Surfer Passes
On Saturday, September 25 2010, the Taiwanese surfing scene lost perhaps its coolest, friendliest, and most-charismatic local surfer. Bob Bishop, an Aussie ex-pat, passed away while he was surfing his local break in Taitung on the South East coast. The Surf Shack would like to send out our condolences to all his family and friends. If you ever knew Bob, you would’ve known how he generously shared his roots in the surfing culture, as a world traveller, and as a surfing equipment inventor. If you have a reflective cover boardbag, or a set of FCS board racks, you can thank Bob for them. Through his hardworking time as a design engineer for international surfing companies in China, Bob knew a good thing when he found it, and I guess that is why he chose Taiwan as his home. It’s still a shock to think Bob won’t be around for the next epic swell at palm point, but, like other good surfer friends who have passed, we’re sure he’ll be on that sweet set wave that sneaks past everyone. Rest in peace Bob.
